Prof. Makodi Biereenu-Nnabugwu, has delivered the Nnamdi Azikiwe University 102nd inaugural lecture. Nnabugwu, a professor of Political Theory and Methodology of Political Inquiry, is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Political Science, under the Social Science Faculty of Nnamdi Azikiwe University. He is now the very first inaugural lecturer of the university, from the Department of Political Science. The inaugural lecture which was held on Thursday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University auditorium, under the chairmanship of the university Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, was well attended by academics from around the country, as well as family and friends of the inaugural lecturer.

The lecture which reflected on the State and classical political thought, from the perspective of relevance to Africa, drew a sharp comparison between Africa’s civilization as well as development politically, and the rest of the known world.

Professor Biereenu-Nnabugwu is a well-published professor who commenced his academic journey in the 1980s at the University of Calabar’s Department of Political Science. From there, he proceeded to the University of Portharcourt for his master’s degree before joining the academic staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2001, eventually completing his doctorate in the Institution, and then rising meticulously to the rank of professor.

This inaugural lecture is symbolic and speaks to the academic journey of Professor Nnabugwu, in over two decades as a Political Science teacher and researcher, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
