The Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam has hinted that the new government will sanction erring health workers involved in professional misconduct in the state’s health sector.
Dr El-Imam was reacting to the reported missing umbilical cord and placenta of a new born baby at a Cottage hospital in Iloffa, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of the state.
“That professional misconduct among health workers would not be condoned by the government. The professional misconduct is currently under investigation by the police.
“The state ministry of health has commenced its internal investigation into the matter and will ensure that justice is done at the end of both processes.
“Any attempt to undermine the stance through any act of misconduct would be vigorously dealt with,” El-Imam said.
The Commissioner emphasized the unwavering commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led the government to provide universal health care and quality service for all citizens of the state.
Recall that about five medical staff of the Iloffa Cottage Hospital have been accused of missing umbilical cord and placenta of a newborn in the hospital which has caused some concerns in the Iloffa community.
