Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has commended the governors of the North-East for their cohesion, sense of purpose, and commitment to regional development.
The vice president made the commendation in Bauchi on Saturday, while commissioning the newly reconstructed and remodeled ultramodern Government House Bauchi, expressing the need for collective action among governors of the Northeast to tackle the challenges facing the sub-region.
“I want to take this opportunity to commend our governors for their camaraderie, sense of purpose, and commitment. Our governors are united in the common cause of repositioning the North-East sub-region.
“There is no room for conflict among us. We are all united, and it is time for us to unite as a single unit to address the monumental challenges facing our sub-region,” he said.
Shettima, while commissioning the Government House commended Governor Bala Mohammed for having the foresight and determination to embark on the project despite the paucity of funds available to the government.
He urged governors from the Northeastern sub-region to prioritize infrastructure and economic growth initiatives in their collective struggle to establish legacy projects in their respective states.
“This will facilitate effective service delivery to the people of the state, charging leaders to prioritize developmental projects to block the infrastructural gaps in their respective states for development,” VP added.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state earlier stated that inadequate space, delayed structures, and an unfavourable working environment characterized the former Government House.
Mohammed stated that it had been part of his development agenda since 2019 when he was first elected and sworn in as governor of the state.
