More tributes have continued to pour in over the sudden demise of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the senator who represented Anambra South senatorial district, before his death on Saturday, 27th July 2024, at 52 years. Senator Ubah who slumped in London, reportedly died of cardiac arrest.

Reacting to the shocking and deeply painful news, Mr. Paul Chukwuma, the founder and Pro-Chancellor of Olivia University, Burundi, who doubles as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of Benue State University, Markodi, has expressed disbelief over the death of the energetic senator. According to Chukwuma, “Ifeanyi Ubah was a brother and political associate whose energy was infectious, and he gave all of it to anything he believed in. He was a philanthropist who cared and loved his people,” he said in a statement signed by Emeka Obi, his media assistant. Commenting on the senator’s eventful life, Chukwuma said “he lived purposefully and like a man on a mission.”

Paul Chukwuma who is an aspirant in the 2025 governorship election in Anambra state under the APC, has equally suspended all political activities of his campaign team for thirty days, in honour of the deceased senator, describing his death as a shock that has left “a big vacuum.”

On his part, Uzu Okagbue, a former Anambra Central senatorial aspirant serving as Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to Anambra State’s former governor, has expressed sadness over the senator’s death, describing it as profoundly sad. “It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the sudden passing of my friend, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. He was a beacon of resilience and a compassionate leader who always treated others fairly. His unwavering commitment to public service and his kindness touched countless lives,” a part of the statement signed by Okagbue reads.

Similarly, Chief Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu Jnr, has reacted to Senator Ubah’s death, describing it as shocking. “I am shocked at this moment, as I struggle to come to terms with the reality that Dist. Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, has indeed passed away,” Chief Emeka said in a statement he signed. He also spoke highly of the deceased senator’s energy and love for people, as well as how Ubah was fully committed to the burial of his late father, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Eze Igbo Gburugburu. “His energy was extremely infectious. He embraced anything he was committed to with open arms. During the burial of my father, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, he was everywhere and did everything possible to facilitate a smooth funeral for Eze Igbo Gburugburu…he was a dear bother and friend who always came through at any time,” Emeka said.

In the same vein, Rt. Hon. Barr. Benchuks Nwosu, a former ally of the deceased senator for many years, has expressed disbelief, confusion, and shock, over the sudden demise of the senator. Recalling how they met and all the projects they worked on together, the senator was referred to as a “master of big projects”, by Benchuks Nwosu, who went on to say that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was a tireless hard worker, a man committed to his dreams and one who doesn’t take no for an answer. “He was bullish and never took no for an answer. Ifeanyi Ubah got things done… he targeted goals and pursued them with triumphant success. His spirit and body language made the weak strong…he overcame political treachery, human dishonesty, and plain meanness in the Anambra State political terrain, to become a two-term senator with a little-known political party,” Barr. Nwosu said.

The sudden demise of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, a man generally known for his energetic can-do spirit, philanthropy, and big dreams, has left a weighty void that will be difficult to fill soon.
