The Anambra State House of Assembly, during sitting on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of six persons into the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission – ANSIEC.
Earlier, the House of Assembly received Governor Soludo’s nomination for ANSIEC membership upon its resumption on Tuesday. The governor’s request was immediately referred to the Screening Committee for screening and further action by the Assembly. However, the nominees were screened on Wednesday morning and confirmed during the plenary on Wednesday.
The six nominees are as follows; Magistrate Chinelo Genevieve Osakwa, who is also the Chairperson of the Commission. Others are; Mrs. Bernadine Obande, Barr. Osita Igbokwe, Sir. Chinedu Nnalue, Mrs. Helen Umeh, and Mr. John Okeke.
With this development, it is now obvious that the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, might be gearing up to conduct the local government election “as soon as practical.”
