Rotarian Michael Omeihe, the newly inaugurated president of the Rotary Club of Isheri North has proposed to embark on projects worth over N20 million in the 2024/25 rotary year.He stated this at the investiture and fundraising ceremony which took place at the Event Centre, Alausa, Ikeja yesterday.
The president enumerated such projects to include equipping the newly built primary healthcare centre at Isheri Ifo local government area of Ogun State, which he said when operational would serve a community with over 20,000 residents.
According to Omeihe, his administration will embark on free eye cataract surgery, as cataract is the leading cause of blindness in Nigeria. “This free surgery will prevent 30 members of the community from going blind in the nearest future.”
Omeihe said he would also embark on basic education support at local government primary school at Isheri Olofin. “This project will improve school facilities and enhance learning for about 300 pupils.”
He asserted that he would ensure the sustenance and revitalization of the Isheri Estate Community Garden.
“The project seeks to promote environmental sustainability in the community inhabited by over 20,000 residents.” Omeihe stated.
He added that revitalisation of the neonatal ward of the public General Hospital within District 9112 is also his target.
“This project seeks to provide a standard neonatal ward in a high birth and highly populated with over 100,000 residents,” Omeihe added.
While acknowledging the presence of the District Governor Elect, immediate past District Governor, past District Governor, district leaders, royal fathers, fellow Rotarians, and guests, Omeihe stated that his new position is a privilege and a profound responsibility. “I’m deeply honored by the trust and confidence you have placed in me, and I promise to lead with dedication, integrity, and compassion.
“Rotary has always been about service above self, and our club exemplifies this spirit. From our community outreach programmes to our global initiatives, we have consistently worked to make a positive impact. I’m inspired by the dedication and passion of each member, and together, I know we can achieve even greater things in the year ahead.
“As we embark on this journey, I’m excited to build upon the solid foundation laid by my predecessors. We’ll focus on enhancing our community engagement, expanding our charitable efforts, and fostering strong partnerships,” he added.
“I’m particularly passionate about continuing our support for the albino community, a cause close to my heart, and ensuring that our initiatives are inclusive and far-reaching,” Omeihe stated.
He called on his fellow Rotarians and partners to come on board to ensure that the new administration succeeds.
“To my fellow Rotarians, I encourage each of you to bring your unique strengths and perspectives to the table. It’s our collective effort that makes us strong, and together, we can turn our vision into reality. Let’s work hand in hand to inspire change, uplift those in need, and create lasting legacies.
“To our friends, partners, and supporters, your continued support is invaluable. We look forward to working closely with you to make a meaningful difference in our community and beyond,” Omeihe said.
