The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has appointed German coach Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
The NFF announced on Tuesday that it had agreed with Labbadia to take charge of the senior men’s national team.
The NFF Executive Committee approved the appointment following a recommendation from the Technical and Development sub-committee, according to NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.
Labbadia replaces Finidi George, who resigned after failing to secure wins in two key 2026 World Cup qualifiers, leaving the Super Eagles in fifth place in Group C with only three points.
The three-time African champions are looking to revive their fortunes under Labbadia’s leadership, as they prepare for the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic on 7th September and Rwanda on 10th September.
Labbadia, a former Bayern Munich player, has previously managed German clubs Darmstadt 98, VfB Stuttgart, and Bayer Leverkusen.
