The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in collaboration with the military at the checkpoint in Adamawa state have intercepted 626 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing 500.800kg, around Numan Bridge.
Agboalu Femi Samson, Adamawa State Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) disclosed that the suspects were already on the watch list of the agency.
“The NDLEA has a permanent checkpoint in place to cut off drug supply into the state, with two teams operating 24/7.
“Two tinted vehicles, an SUV and Hilux with fake presidency number plates, were used to transport the drugs from Alagbaka in Akure, Ondo State, to Mubi in Adamawa State,” he said.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, who visited the checkpoint to assess the intercepted substance and assured continued support for the NDLEA’s fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
Fintiri while congratulating the security operatives for their efforts, advised drug users to desist from the habit.
