…FG, Adamawa Govts Signs MoU
The Federal and Adamawa state governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Yola to convert Cottage Hospital Hong and General Hospital Mubi to Federal Medical Centers.
Daju Kachollom, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health signed for the Federal Government while Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta signed on behalf of Adamawa State.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Minister of Health Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve to provide quality health care to citizens.
The minister, represented by Daju Kachollom, Permanent Secretary, in the ministry, said the signing of the deal ends the year’s process of the conversion and the beginning of the transition into another stage of providing health service delivery.
On her part, Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, said the state government is mindful of federal government policies, especially those that benefit the people of the state.
Farauta appealed to the federal government to consider carrying along people from the state for employment into the services of the two tertiary health institutions.
“When finally, these institutions take off, we want to ask that our people are the ones to be used in populating the FMCs because they are cited in Adamawa,” she said.
Farauta noted that the state government couldn’t say no when the two health institutions were asked to be handed over to the federal government, due to its numerous benefits to the people of the state.
She assured of state government support from the institutions to thrive in complement state government efforts in the health sector.
“I want to thank the federal government for adding value to the efforts of the state government in the health sector.
Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Center Hong, Prof. Yakub Wilberforce Nyandaiti who spoke for the two institutions thanked the federal government for making the conversion a reality.
