Gyration music maestro and former member of Anambra State House of Assembly who represented Idemili North Constituency, Hon. Tony Oneweek Muonagor, has expressed disappointment over the federal government’s allocation of 18 projects totaling N724 million Naira to Idemili North LGA as constituency projects.
Hon. Mounagor who was a former Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano, reacting to the story by the West African Pilot News, on the planned Town Hall by Active Citizens Movement demanding federal lawmakers from Anambra Central to account for the N21 billion allocated to the senatorial zone for year 2024 as constituency project, said that allocation to Idemili North was both unfair and shocking.
According to Hon. Tony, “It is heartbreaking that a local government area as large and important as Idemili North is being treated with levity as shown by the allocations of the Anambra Central Senatorial zonal constituency projects 2023/24. Looking at the appropriations for the federal constituency projects and their distribution in the Anambra Central Senatorial zone, one cannot but shudder at the treatment meted out to the great Idemili North,” Mr. Muonagor said.
Regretting the situation, Mr. Tony Muonagor said; “It is bewildering that these distributions and allocations are compiled and submitted by the Senator and members of the House of Representatives from Anambra Central Senatorial zone. The buck should stop on the desks of our senator and the member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency. Does this have a political undertone? Do we deserve this treatment? Is this a punishment or what?” Tony wondered
In all Active Citizen Movement reported that out of 233 projects that were allocated to Anambra Central, Idemili North got only 18 (eighteen) at N724 million. “Out of a whooping N21.81 billion, Idemili North was given less than N1 billion worth of projects. For starters, Idemili North is the local government with the highest number of registered voters in Anambra state and usually the beautiful bride for all politicians during campaigns,” Hon. Tony said.
