…Nurse, Friend to Face Trial

A Lagos Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, has acquitted singer Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, music promoter Sam Larry, and artist Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, of any involvement in the death of musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, professionally known as Mohbad.

The court presided over by Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje, adopted the findings of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which indicated no case against the trio.

The DPP’s advice, however, recommended the prosecution of auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe and Mohbad’s friend, Ayobami Sadiq, for reckless and negligent acts leading to the singer’s death. They are to be charged under Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

This development follows extensive investigations into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise, which had previously led to public outcry and protests.

The court’s decision has elicited mixed reactions from the public, with some expressing relief over the acquittal of the three men, while others call for a more thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.

As the legal proceedings continue, the focus now shifts to the trial of Ogedengbe and Sadiq, whose actions are alleged to have directly contributed to the untimely death of the young artist.
