The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza, has ordained four new priests.
The newly ordained priests, including Reverend Father John Peter Wild, Reverend Father Joseph Hyginus, Reverend Father Robinson Bernard Gutaro, and Reverend Father Godwin Ibrahim Clement, are expected to serve in various parishes and institutions within the diocese by bringing their unique gifts and talents to the ministries to which they are posted.
The ceremony was marked by deep spiritual favour, as the candidates were called forward to receive the sacrament of Holy Orders and expected to live a life of holiness.
Speaking at the event which took place at Saint Theresa’s Cathedral and was filled with Priests, Family members, friends, and the faithful of the Diocese of Yola, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza charged them to live a holy life with humility and sacrifice for the growth of the church.
Mamza explained that the significance of the priesthood is a call to service and stressed the importance of humility, sacrifice, and dedication to the spiritual well-being of the church and its people.
He encouraged the new priests to be true servants of the Gospel by living a life of holiness, pointing out that they should always lead by example and bring hope to the people as they proclaimed the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Bishop noted that the priests who have answered the call by God say it’s his hope they will continue to add value to the vineyard of the lord as they serve the church and his people.
He appealed to the parishioners to collaborate and work with them to serve them better.
The new priests were warmly embraced by the faithful, who expressed their joy and declared their support to them, while the newly ordained priests offered their first blessings. The congregation responded with loud cheers and applause, affirming their commitment to support them in their journey of faith.
The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of a car to each of the ordained priests by Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza to aid their work.
