In celebration of Commonwealth Day on March 10, King Charles III has collaborated with Apple Music to launch “The King’s Music Room,” a curated playlist showcasing artists from across the Commonwealth, including Nigeria’s Davido.
The playlist reflects the King’s personal taste, spanning various genres and eras. An Apple spokesperson described it as encompassing “1930s crooners to Afrobeats stars, disco divas, and reggae icons.”
In the broadcast, recorded at Buckingham Palace, King Charles shares personal anecdotes about his interactions with some artists and discusses music’s profound impact on his life. He emphasises that music “brings us joy during celebrations” and has been a source of comfort.
The King’s commentary offers listeners insight into his musical journey, underscoring the unifying power of music across the Commonwealth.
The playlist will be available on Apple Music 1 from 6 a.m. GMT on March 10.
