The Government of Adamawa State has announced automatic employment to 60 graduate engineers trained in India under the sponsorship of the state government.
However, their employment would regularize after their one-year mandatory national service under the NYSC scheme.
Recalled that the scholarship scheme was introduced in 2020 to support the Adamawa indigenes on the five-year engineering programme in India.
The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Umar Umar Garba Pella, announced the offer in Yola after the young engineers paid a thank-you visit to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for the scholarship opportunity that enabled them obtained foreign engineering training.
The Commissioner added that Governor Fintiri was impressed with the students’ performance, saying his administration would sustain the programme so that more Adamawa indigenes can benefit.
Pella, said the State Government is making preparations to send another batch of students to study in China under its next scholarship programme.
Tahir Iju Sama’ila , one of the young engineers who spoke for his colleagues, thanked Governor Fintiri for the opportunity to study abroad and for the job offer.
He said they were impressed that Adamawa had shown commitment to the wellbeing of its students, while other states abandoned their students.
