Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has praised President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian military for what he described as major improvements in Nigeria’s security and economy.

In a statement released by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, Barau said the President’s efforts in his first two years have already started laying the groundwork for national progress.

He pointed to military successes in the North-West and reduced kidnappings along the once-dangerous Abuja–Kaduna highway.

“For instance, hundreds of terrorists have been neutralised in the North West geopolitical zone. Yes, there are pockets of cases of kidnapping and attacks, but they are minimal compared to the coming of this administration,” he said.

Barau also pointed to reduced attacks on the Abuja-Kaduna highway and a drop in violence in the South East.

“In the South East, the activities of unknown gunmen terrorising the region have been on the downward side. In the North East, Boko Haram was almost completely eradicated until the recent attacks in some parts of Borno State.”

Though recent attacks occurred in Borno, he believes the military will “smoke them out permanently.”

“The people of the remaining five states in the North East live peacefully and conduct their lawful businesses—commendation to our gallant officers and men of the Armed Forces and other sister security agencies,” he added.

Barau further highlighted economic reforms by the Tinubu administration, including clearing inherited debts, attracting foreign investment, and addressing currency challenges.

“President Tinubu has left no stone unturned in addressing the country’s challenges… It is not easy to ‘rebuild a shattered building,’” he said.

He urged Nigerians to rally behind the President, describing current policies as “people-oriented and pro-masses” and insisting that the country is on the path to transformation.
