NewsOnly 200 South East Youths Apply for Army Recruitment, Says Nigerian Army

…Soludo Tasks Traditional Rulers with Mobilising 10 Youths from Each Community to Join the Army

The Nigerian Army has raised the alarm over the poor turnout of youths from the South East in its ongoing recruitment exercise, revealing that only 200 youths from the entire region have so far registered.

Brigadier General Chima Ekeator, who leads the Army’s recruitment sensitisation team in Anambra State, shared the concern during a meeting with community leaders and youth representatives.

“This sensitisation is necessary because, according to records, only 200 persons have registered from the South East, while in other states, not less than 4000 persons have registered,” he said.

Ekeator urged community leaders to encourage more young people to participate, noting that low registration means the South East risks underrepresentation in the military.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by Youth Commissioner Patrick Aghamba, also called on traditional rulers and town leaders to mobilise at least 10 youths from each community.

The Commissioner, Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, encouraged youths between ages 18 and 22 to take the opportunity seriously.
