…As Hoodlums Kill A Youth Mobiliser

Nineteen persons have been abducted along the Makurdi – Naka Road, less than three kilometers to Naka, the headquarters of Gwer-West Local Government Area (LGA) by suspected herders.

The incident which took place between 10am and 11am in the morning of Thursday, involving two vehicles has left residents of Naka town stunned.

The 19 persons were abducted while they were traveling in two separate commercial vehicles, each heading in the opposite direction on the Makurdi – Naka Road.

It was gathered that the kidnappers had released five persons, among them a driver, an elderly woman, a breast-feeding mother and her two children.

In a related development, a youth mobiliser in Makurdi, the state capital, Raphael Ikyav, was stabbed by some hoodlums on Wednesday night and left to die in a pool of blood.

It was gathered that the Youth Mobiliser, Ikyav, popularly called ‘Spanner’ who was killed by his assailants in his shop along Akpehe road in Makurdi, died from multiple wounds.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benue State Command, CSP Sewuese Anene who confirmed the killing of the youth leader, said investigation was ongoing.
