Crime & SecurityNewsNigeriaPolitics“Enough is Enough,” Tinubu Orders Swift Action in Troubled States

President Bola Tinubu has told security chiefs in no unambiguous terms that he wants an end to the bloodshed in parts of the country—and fast.

During a lengthy meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu made it clear that the killings in Plateau, Benue, Borno, and Kwara states have gone on for too long.

“Enough is enough,” he said, his voice stern as he addressed the disturbing spate of attacks in communities across these states.

The meeting, which lasted over two hours, brought together the heads of Nigeria’s armed forces, police, and intelligence agencies.

Briefing journalists afterwards, the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, shared the President’s frustration.

According to Ribadu, security agencies had laid bare the grim details: lives lost, property destroyed, and communities left in fear.

The President, even while away in Paris and London recently, had kept a close watch and was visibly distressed by the situation.

“The President gave us new directives. He is insisting that we must work harder to restore peace and security across the country,” Ribadu said.

One of the key takeaways from the meeting was the President’s insistence on closer collaboration between federal security forces and local authorities.

Ribadu explained that local government councils, traditional rulers, and state governors must play more active roles in addressing the root causes of insecurity.

“We need to work more closely with communities, local authorities and governors. The President has made that clear,” he noted.

He also confirmed that security chiefs had already visited some of the affected areas to speak directly with political leaders and community representatives.

Ribadu revealed that many of the attackers operate from remote, ungoverned areas, often planting explosives to target innocent civilians. He said the President is not only concerned, but is now demanding a new approach to Nigeria’s security challenges.

“The President is very worried and deeply concerned. He wants a new approach, and he has given us clear directives,” Ribadu said, emphasising that all relevant security agencies were present at the meeting.
