The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 148 suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, and rape.

The Command spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, in a statement, said that among items recovered from the suspects are 11 AK-47 rifles, 20 locally fabricated assault rifles, 110 live rounds of ammunition, 2 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and 3 stolen vehicles.

“In compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, to develop an action plan aimed at minimizing crimes, the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), has re-designed the Command’s operational/intelligence capabilities and intensified security measures to address emerging threats and reduce crime within the state.

“This strategic move has yielded significant outcome that resulted in the arrest of numerous suspects for kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, rape amongst others, as well as the recovery of arms and ammunition,” the statement said.

Nguroje further said two (2) improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Boko Haram in some communities within Hong Local Government Area were detonated, while six (6) kidnapped victims were rescued in collaboration with sister security agencies.

The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police commended the gallant officers and men involved in the successful operations and assured the public that the Command will spare no effort in ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Adamawa State.
