The former chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Isa Muhammad Wabi, was stabbed to death in his apartment around the Fadama Mada area of Bauchi metropolis.

The Bauchi State police command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Friday said: “On the early morning of May 2, 2025, about 0403 hours, the police command received a distress call from a Good Samaritan concerning an incident involving an attack by a group of youths at Fadama Mada, located behind Government Girls’ Secondary School, Bauchi.

“They found Isa Muhammad Wabi, a 66-year-old former chairman of Jama’are Local Government, in a critical condition due to injuries sustained in the attack. He was promptly evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi for urgent medical attention”.

According to Wakil, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances of his son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, aged 24.

The investigation revealed that Ahmad Abdulkadir, also known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, referred to as Ajebo, had entered the home around 0300 hours and conspired to assault Mr Wabi.

He sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck.

Wakil further disclosed that one of the suspects, Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene, likely due to retaliatory action from an enraged individual.

The PPRO said Aje was also taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, while Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed had been taken into custody for questioning and had cooperated, providing valuable information to the authorities.

Wakil noted that the command was conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances of the incident and ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice.

He said the state commissioner of police, Bauchi State command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the deceased’s house, assured them of diligent investigation, and ensured that all responsible parties are brought to justice.

He also extended condolences to the bereaved families.
