The Federal Government has declared Friday, 6th June, and Monday, 9th June, 2025 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
This was announced in a statement issued by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government on Monday, 2nd June.
Dr Tunji-Ojo congratulated all Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe on the joyous occasion, urging them to reflect on the significance of the festival by embracing the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and faith, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
He said, “I call on the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.”
The Minister further assured Nigerians that the reforms and people-centred policies being implemented by the Tinubu-led administration under its Renewed Hope Agenda are geared towards steering the country back on the path of development and national pride.
“The people-oriented reforms and initiatives carried out, in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s Administration, is to restore Nigeria on the path of progress,” he stated.
While wishing Muslims a happy Eid-ul-Adha celebration, Dr. Tunji-Ojo appealed to all Nigerians to support the administration’s efforts towards national restoration.
“I urge all Nigerians to join hands with the present administration in its efforts to restore the glory of Nigeria as a great nation,” he said.
