Eight notorious bandits operating in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State have surrendered their weapons and handed over 16 kidnapped victims to troops of the Nigerian Army.
The development, which took place on Saturday, 14 June 2025, was part of the ongoing arms surrender and disengagement initiative being coordinated by the leadership of Operation Fasin Yamma in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
In a statement posted on its official social media pages on Sunday, the Nigerian Army confirmed the surrender, listing the repentant bandits as Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black.
According to the army, “Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black—voluntarily surrendered their arms and handed over kidnap victims on June 14, 2025.”
The army noted that the bandits came forward willingly as part of a broader peace initiative in the region, and vowed to renounce violence and embrace peace.
“The surrendered weapons have been secured,” the army said, adding, “As part of the gesture, the group released 16 kidnap persons, comprising seven women and nine children, and pledged to release the remaining captives in their custody by 15 June 2025.”
It stated that the freed victims were immediately handed over to the appropriate local government authorities for necessary care and reunification with their families.
The army assured that the security situation in Dan Musa and its surrounding communities remained calm, with troops maintaining a strong presence to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
It said, “The security situation in the area remains stable, with troops maintaining a strong presence and continuous monitoring to ensure sustained peace and stability.”
