A new political alliance led by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be registered as a political party ahead of the 2027 general election.
The proposed party is called the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), and it has the slogan “Justice for All.”
In a letter addressed to INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu and dated 19 June, the group requested the commission to grant full registration to ADA. INEC’s office acknowledged receipt of the letter on 20 June.
The application was jointly signed by Akin Ricketts, who is named as the national chairman of the party, and Abdullahi Musa Elayo, the protem national secretary.
In the letter, the group stated:
“We respectfully write to the Independent National Electoral Commission requesting the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance, as a political party. This is sequel to the decision taken by the Nigerian National Coalition Group to sponsor our association for full registration.”
The group also noted that it had submitted key documents to back its request, including the party’s constitution and manifesto.
“We have further attached our manifesto encompassing details of our party ideology and our constitution providing the legal framework that defines our identity, structures, and organisation,” the letter added.
Although INEC has not issued any official response, the emergence of ADA marks a new chapter in the growing political realignments ahead of 2027.
