The Taraba State government has banned government officials from spraying money during ceremonies and vowed to punish offenders.
The ban is contained in a statement signed by Secretary to the Government of the State, Chief Gebon T. Kataps, and addressed to Commissioners, Special Advisers, Chairmen of Commissions, Boards and Parastatals and all political appointees.
The statement also asked those concerned to “ensure strict compliance to this directive”.
“It has come to the notice of government that political appointees in the State spray money during ceremonies which contravenes Section 21 (1) of the CBN Act 2007 and is punishable under the Law.
“In view of the above, notice is hereby given; that henceforth, spraying money in any ceremony in the State is banned.
“Any officer found violating this directive will be punished in accordance with the instant Laws and shall be personally liable,” the statement reads.
