No fewer than 400 widows and persons with disabilities across Plateau North senatorial district have benefited from the benevolent of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Gyang Zi.
The beneficiaries who received cash support, rice, palm and groundnut oils were drawn from Bassa, Barkin Ladi, Jos North, Jos South, Jos East and Riyom local government areas.
Gyang Zi is among aspirants seeking ticket on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Plateau North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
The director-general of the Gyang Zi campaign organization, Chief Kado Awul while speaking during the distribution exercise in Jos, said the initiative was aimed at cushioning the effects of the current economic hardship on vulnerable members of society.
Awul explained that Zi has remained committed to supporting widows and persons with disabilities through humanitarian interventions across the state.
“Over 240 widows and about 150 persons with disabilities benefited from the outreach programme.
“Gyang Zi believes that vulnerable persons, especially widows and persons with disabilities, deserve care and support. The gesture is intended to assist them in meeting their basic needs and supporting their families,” he said.
Some of the beneficiaries described the intervention as timely, noting that it would help reduce the burden of the prevailing economic situation.
Ngo Kaneng Tonji, speaking on behalf of the widows, appealed to leaders and philanthropists to continue supporting vulnerable groups in society.
Also speaking, Mr Joseph Amakson, who represented persons with disabilities, commended Zi for the initiative and urged him to sustain the programme.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Lydia Gyang, expressed appreciation for the support, noting that it came at a critical time for her family.
“This support came at a difficult moment for my family and me. It will help us put food on the table and ease our hardship,” she said.
