The incident occurred a few weeks ago, when a similar attack was carried out in a nearby community, which has placed the residents in perpetual fear of being attacked.
It was gathered that the marauders arrived in the community on motorcycles around 5:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, when residents are resting for the weekend ahead of planned programs for the week, and opened fire on the innocent people.
The Council Chairman visited the community and commiserated with the bereaved families, assuring them of the government’s readiness to protect them and their property.
He vowed to take aggressive steps to eliminate security threats across the LGA, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to restoring lasting peace throughout the LGA.
The Council Chairman reiterated the call for people to always alert security to the movements of people with questionable character and also to expose informants among the people.
“Any individuals found harboring criminals, collaborating with insurgents, or sabotaging local peace would face the full wrath of the law,” Yerima warned.
The locals appeal to federal and state authorities to urgently scale up security interventions to permanently neutralize the threat and protect rural dwellers.
