A Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the leadership structure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including its processes producing Atiku Abubakar as candidate.
Justice Peter Lifu, in a judgment delivered on Thursday, also nullified the emergence of former Senate President David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola and others as national officers of the party.
The court held that the emergence of Mark and Aregbesola as leaders of the ADC was unlawful, upholding the case filed by Nafiu Bala Gombe, a Deputy National Chairman of the party.
The judge also cancelled the nominations of all candidates selected by the party for the 2027 general elections, on the grounds that they emerged through an unlawful leadership structure.
It further ruled that all actions taken by the David Mark-led leadership in the name of the ADC were unlawful and therefore nullified.
The judgment effectively nullifies the processes that led to Atiku Abubakar’s emergence as the ADC’s candidate for the 2027 election.
Details of the judgment are expected to emerge later.
