The Nigerian musician and entertainer, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek as stage name is dead.
The musician died at the age of 71.
It was learned that he died in a hospital in New York on Monday evening after a prolong illness.
Uzoma Omenka, his manager, confirmed his death in a video uploaded on the late musician’s Instagram handle.

Omenka added that he has been getting calls from all over regarding the passing of the Nigerian reggae artist.
He said, “Yes, it is true that the legend has gone to be with the Lord. But this time I want to say we should all celebrate him, his achievements. He has done a lot for Nigeria and for Africa.
“Whatever the family decides, I will get (it) to you. This is all I have to say for now.”
The Nigerian guitarist was best known for the 1989 album Prisoner of Conscience. The album also included the multiple award-winning single “Send Down the Rain”.
His other album included Spirit of Love (1991), Rainmaker (1997) and Little Patience (2005).
