The Governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governorship election set for October 10, 2020. Chairman of the governorship primary election committee, also Kogi State Governor, Mr Yahaya Bello, announced the results after a rigorous process which dragged into late hours of Monday, July 20.

According to information made available to our newsroom, Akeredolu has been officially declared the party’s flag bearer having won in all the 18 Local Government Areas of the states. Figures show that Governor Akeredolu trashed all seven contenders including some very prominent names.
The election was held at the International Conference Centre, generally called The Dome, in Akure the state capital.
Remarkably, one of those who lost this race was Segun Abraham who was strongly supported by one of the Party’s founders, Chief Bola Tinubu. Governor Akeredolu won overpoweringly in all the 18 Local Government Areas of the state and further took away over 50 percent of the delegates.
Describing the election as a free and fair one, Governor Bello urged all the party members to support this candidate to ensure the victory of the party in the governorship election.
