NewsPoliticsOndo APC Primary: Akeredolu Wins in All 18 LGA, Defeats 8 Aspirants

The incumbent Governor of Info State, Rotimi Akeredolu has won the ticket to fly the party’s flag at the governorship election later this year.

The Governor won over 80 percent of the votes and all the 18 local government areas of the State, dealing a huge defeat to eight other aspirants.

While Akeredolu got 2,458 vote, Olusola Oke polled 262 votes and Isaac Kekemeke secured 19 votes. Ambassador Olusola Iji polled nine votes.

Both Olayide Adelami and Nathaniel Adojutelegan scored four votes each. Jumoke Anifowose won 2 votes.

Jimi Odimayi, Ifeoluwa Oyedele and Segun Abraham had earlier  withdrawn from the election and declared support for the Governor Akeredolu.

The Chairman of the election committee and and Governor of Kogi State said 3,016 delegates were accredited for the exercise while total votes cast was 2,793. He added that 2,760 votes were valid while 33 were invalid.

The indirect primary election took place at the Ondo State International Cultural and Event Centre. The delegates began accreditation at 11am on Monday and voting kicked off at 2pm. It ended 1am on Tuesday.

Governor Akeredolu said in his acceptance speech that everyone was a winner.
