In a move to boost dry season farming in Yola South local government area of Adamawa State, Comrade Rodney Nathan State Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has made a personal donation of about 30 water-pumps to four villages for irrigation to augment the shortfall in the rainy season.
The benefitting villages are; Njoboliyo, Rugange, Njoboli, and koffare.
The donation of the irrigation equipment was under his community Development pet project “Comrade Rodney Agricultural Empowerment Programme (CRAEP)”
Making the presentation in Njoboliyo, Rodney Nathan said, the gesture no political undertone, but borne out of his desire to assist the communities to boost food security in line with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s agenda.

“Governments at the grassroots should support local farmers with such kind of gesture, considering the perennial shortfalls during rainy seasons.
“The communities being riverine will yield a positive impact on food production”. He said.
In his remark, the chairman, Yola South local government, Alhaji Salihu Malkohi, who commended the initiative of Comrade Rodney Nathan, pledged to support each beneficiary with three hundred thousand naira (#3,000) for fuelling and other logistics.
He assured the local farmers that government will key into the Programme considering it’s a direct benefit to farmers.
The beneficiaries appreciated the donor, saying the gesture is timely.
