The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a certain Dr. Effiong Udimidue over the alleged molestation of 11-year-old Don-Davies Architect in Deeper Life High School, Idoro Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
WAP gathered that the doctor was arrested alongside four other staff of the school on Tuesday after a meeting which was attended by all parties involved in the case. The meeting was held at the police headquarter in the state.
Dr. Udimidue, a retiree who is currently running his own private clinic in the state was accused of sneaking into the hospital where the victim was admitted to conduct tests and take blood samples without his parent’s approval.
WAP had reported how the student’s mother, Deborah Okezie had alleged that the Deeper Life School management sneaked in a doctor to the hospital where her son, Don Davis was admitted to conduct tests on him.
Officials who were also detained include; the Vice Principal of the School, an administrative staff whose names could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report, hostel masters of the Junior students’ hostel and Senior Students hostel, Mr. Akpan and Mr. Nseabasi Joseph respectively.
All parties present at the meeting including the Senior Students accused of molestation and bullying, made statements to the police about the issue.
Also, preparations to arraign the arrested Deeper Life High school officials are ongoing.
David Okokon, lawyer to the parents of the boy said to have been sexually abused told PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday morning, he would be in court today for the arraignment.
“They (the police) are arraigning those people found culpable, this morning,” said Mr. Okokon who flew into Uyo from Abuja for the case.
