Alhaji Muhammad Umar, former Deputy Speaker in the defunct Gongola State House of Assembly and traditional title holder of Lamdo Katsina in the Adamawa Emirate Council has died on Thursday.

It could be recalled that Alhaji Dauda Birma, former Minister of Education and traditional title of Sarkin Gabas Adamawa and Waziri of Garkida in the Adamawa Emirate Council died on Tuesday.

Condoling, Lamido Adamawa Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the death of Alhaji Muhammad Umar is a great loss not only to the Adamawa Emirate Council but the entire State.

The deceased held the traditional title of Lamdo Katsina from 1977-2006 in the Adamawa Emirate Council.

Governor Fintiri in a statement by his spokesperson Mr Humwashi Wonosikou said the passage of the former Deputy Speaker who served in that capacity in 1983 during the defunct Gongola State.

The Governor also urged Lamido Fombina and the Adamawa Emirate Council to take heart over the great loss and prayed to Allah to forgive his imperfections and grant him Jannatul- Firdausi.

The statement read in part “As a patriot, selfless politician and Businessman with a passion for the growth and development of Adamawa State.

“Late Muhammad made a mark as a successful Businessman and politician, his death is a great loss not only to the Adamawa Emirate Council, but the entire State”.

The Governor commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased and urged them to bear the irreparable loss for the vacuum created with the death of their breadwinner.
