The former Inspector General of Police, Gambo Jimeta is dead.
Multiple sources said that the aged man died this evening after a protracted illness.
Jimeta, holds the title of Dan Lawal Adamawa.
His standing legacies is the massive enlistment of indigenes of the then Gongola and Adamawa into the Nigerian Police as well as influencing and spearheading the creation of Yola North out of Yola Local Government with headquarters in Jimeta.
Nigeria lost a true Statesman- Buhari
Reacting, President Muhammadu Buhari expressed sadness over the death of Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta.
Conveying the condolences of his family and that of the government and people of Nigeria, the President describes the late crack police detective as “a man of great courage, intellect, and a true Nigerian Statesman,” adding that “Today, Nigeria lost a great son. He lived for the nation and served with all his strength.”
Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President in a statement stated “May Allah bless his soul and give fortitude to the bereaved family, the government and people of Adamawa State to bear this irreparable loss,” President Buhari prays.
