ENUGU — The spate of insecurity in Nigeria has become worrisome as cases of kidnapping, gruesome murder in broad daylight are on the increase.
In Enugu, South East of Nigeria, Ifeanyi Okeke, an entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of AutoEase Services Limited located in Independence-Layout, Opposite Guaranty Resort Hotel, by Winners Road, Asata, Enugu, Nigeria was murdered in the presence of his son; AutoEase specializes on car repairs and maintenance.
Ifeanyi Okeke’s car was hit at the rear on his way home with his seven-year-old son whom he picked up from the barbing salon.
On getting out of his car to ascertain level of damage on his car, the hoodlums ordered him to lie on the ground. They shot him on the legs and stomach and made away with only his phone, according to police.
His seven years old son ran home to alert his mother of the heinous act.
Confirming the dastard act, the Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State Command Public Relations Officer ASP Daniel Ndukwe said, “Following information received on 04/07/2021 at about 2030hrs, that hoodlums were operating at Bricks Estate, Independence Layout, Enugu, Police Operatives attached to the Layout’s Police Division, immediately raced to the scene. On sighting the Operatives, the criminal elements fled, while their victim, later identified as Ifeanyi Okeke, whom they shot severally, was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he was confirmed dead by Doctors on duty.”
