MINNA — Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has blamed some parents in the North over the current security challenges ravaging the region for their lackadaisical attitude towards the upbringing of their children and wards.
The Governor stated this in his address at the 62nd Independence Day celebration program held at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna, maintaining that in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, Nigerians traveled any time and any day freely without worries.
“Many parents in the region most times don’t know where their children sleep and the kind of people they keep as friends. This situation has created a serious gap that usually ended up in unpleasant consequences”.
“Parents must collectively rise to the challenges of accepting their leadership role by ensuring that their children and wards are nurtured to become useful to themselves, their families, and society.
Bello noted that currently, Nigerians do not need to travel abroad for their medication and education.
“We have all the standard facilities in the country, to my dismay, things kept changing for worst, we can restore the good old days, if we collectively agree to work together for national growth and development,” he said.
