Less than two months for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to wind up, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva has resigned his appointment.
The Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad who confirmed the development in his verified twitter handle said the minister resigned to enable him contest the Bayelsa State Governorship seat slated for November 2023.
Timipre Sylva was appointed as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources in 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari upon his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC from PDP.
Recall that the Timipre Sylva had served as Bayelsa State Governor in 2007 on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and re-elected in 2008 on the same capacity.
However, in 2012 the Supreme Court sacked him which ended his administration.
