Masked killers stormed a mosque at Sabon Layi community in Birnin-Gwari local government area of Kaduna State on Tuesday, killing an Imam and a worshipper.
The Imam and worshipper were identified as Malam Mamuda and Kabiru, respectively.
Two other worshippers, simply identified as Bilya Mairabo and Ashiru Mairabo, were critically injured by gunshots.
The marauding bandits, disguised as men of the Nigerian Army, struck at 5:30 a.m. when people gathered for congregational prayer.
The attack has thrown the community into panic, as most of the villagers have now fled to nearby villages for safety, according to Nigerian Tribune.
A resident who spoke to reporters said the terrorists attack daily, killing and abducting citizens.
“Almost on a daily basis, terrorists are on parole across the entire Birnin-Gwari local government area, killing and abducting innocent citizens,” he said.
