Crime & SecurityNewsNigeriaKidnappers Releases 13 Abducted Villages After 62 Days

The 13 villagers kidnapped from their residences at Unguwar Liman, Gwada ward of Igabi LGA of Kaduna state and had spent 62 days in the abductors’ den have regained freedom.

The victims were part of the 30 abducted in the community in December 2023.

Recall that the kidnappers collected N6.5 million with the agreement to release all the victims but ended up releasing only 17 and demanded an additional N16 million for the others.

Malam Jafaru Anaba, a community leader, whose relations were among those released, confirmed this on Monday, said the remaining 13 people were released last Saturday after payment of ransom.

Anaba, however, declined to mention the amount paid to the abductors but said they had been reunited with their family members.

“We give thanks to God that the remaining abductees have regained their freedom after 62 days in the forest. As we speak, some of them are receiving treatment,” he said.
