No fewer than 632 suspects have been arraigned in Kano for vandalizing public facilities and looting as the ongoing #EndBadGovernment protest continues in the state.
Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, spokesman for the state governor who confirmed the arraignment of the suspects in a statement on Monday, explained that the 632 arraigned suspects were arrested for destroying public assets in parts of the city.
He added that those found guilty of vandalism would face the full wrath of the law, and warned that the Kano State Government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order was non-negotiable.
Tofa announced that a special commission of inquiry would be set up to investigate those behind the killings and looting of public buildings in the state.
“The commission will ascertain the root causes of the killings and destruction of public buildings,” he said.
On protesters carrying Russian flags, Tofa explained that the protesters were not affiliated with the government, and urged the security agencies to unravel those behind them and their motives.
He added that the state government will float massive training programs for youths to promote self-reliance and curtail their likelihood of being used to cause a breakdown of law and order.
