In a series of coordinated operations last week, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) made significant seizures and arrests across multiple states.
Nightclub Raid on Victoria Island
In the early hours of Sunday, 26 October 2025, NDLEA operatives raided Proxy Nightclub at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. More than 100 individuals were arrested, including the owner of the club, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike.
According to the agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, cartons of illicit substances, including the cannabis product Loud and laughing gas, were seized from the party attendees and from the club’s store.
He explained: “The raid followed intelligence about the drug party. NDLEA operatives who were embedded in the party between 11 p.m. on Saturday, 25th October, however disrupted the gathering at 3 a.m. on Sunday, 26th October, in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).”
Air-Freight Cocaine Called Off at Lagos Airport
In a related operation at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, NDLEA uncovered 70 parcels of cocaine concealed within the walls of cocoa-butter-formula body-cream containers.
The shipment — weighing 3.60 kg — had been packed as “personal effects” and destined for London on an Air Peace flight.
A cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, was promptly arrested after presenting the consignment for freight. Further investigations led to the arrest of other suspects, including a healthcare worker and the CEO of a travel agency.
Other Seizures and Arrests Across Nigeria
The NDLEA reported a number of other seizures during follow-up operations:
At Akanu Ibiam International Airport (Enugu), a Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, was arrested after attempting to export 103.59 g of methamphetamine concealed inside a herbal-coffee-tea packaging.
In Kwara State, operatives recovered 21,950 capsules of Tramadol (250 mg) hidden inside a 100-litre water heater.
At a checkpoint in Taraba State, two suspects were arrested with 450,000 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 while transporting them from Anambra to Adamawa.
Along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State, NDLEA seized 162.2 kg of skunk (a potent type of cannabis).
In Nasarawa State, 128 kg of skunk was recovered from a suspect in Keffi.
Brigadier-General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), NDLEA Chairman and CEO, commended the officers involved in the operations.
He urged them to sustain what he described as the agency’s “balanced approach to drug control efforts” — combining enforcement with public education and community engagement.
He also reaffirmed the Agency’s renewed vigour in its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaign in schools, worship centres and communities around the country.
