Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano has warned that the issue of insecurity should not be politicized in Nigeria as the state converged to pray and recite the Quran against the recent encroachment of armed bandits.
The prayer session and Quran recitations, which saw 4,444 memorizers of the Holy Book converge at the government House, and other top dignitaries in attendance.
He noted that the prayer sessions are beyond a financial commitment, but a venture that every sensible person will love to participate in; he therefore assured that his Government will work in tandem with stakeholders to make the city great.
“Insecurity and other criminalities must not have political colorations- every political affiliation should have at its back fighting insecurity and ensuring that its domains are peaceful.
“We want to see everybody joining hands together to fight the monster and free Kano,” he said.
The Governor warned that insecurity does not know politics or party affiliations, saying that is the reason why everyone, regardless of their leanings, should join the fight against the monster of banditry.
The Governor explained that his government has provided security agencies with the necessary tools to safeguard Kano, adding that he is always in touch with them to address their problems and needs for immediate resolution.
He appealed to the Kano People to remain calm as the government, in collaboration with the security agencies, is working tirelessly to ensure that Kano and its environment is protected.
Many Reciters and Ullamas prayed during the events which attracted participants from across the state 44 local governments.
