The Kano State Censorship Board has ordered the closure of all entertainment facilities across the state for the duration of Ramadan.
Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, Public Relations Officer of the board, in a statement, said that the suspension of all event centers, including gala houses and DJ operations.
The statement explained that the suspension takes effect on Wednesday, 18th February 2026, and will remain in effect throughout the Ramadan period.
The board also appealed to the various entertainment operators to adhere to the directive and comply fully.
The board said the action was taken in line with the Ramadan season to create a peaceful and conducive environment for residents.
The statement said: “Effective from Wednesday, 18 February 2026, all such venues (entertainment centres) will remain closed until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
“The directive will take effect from 10:00 p.m. on that day, Wednesday.”
“The closure will remain in force throughout the fasting period, while the date for reopening, particularly during the Eid celebrations, will be announced at the appropriate time”.
The board also offered prayers for a calm and healthy Ramadan, asking God to grant the faithful the grace to witness the sacred month in mercy and prosperity.
