Following the attacks on Mbaterem in Ayaba, Ikpur, Yina, Aboajio, and Ukpen communities in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia said the government would continue to support security agencies.
The measure is to enable them to confront criminal elements and strengthen security operations in the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor commended security agencies for their prompt response to the attack on communities in Mbazun Ward, where some residents were killed and others injured.
Alia also charged security agencies to sustain vigilance and strengthen their presence in strategic locations across the state.
The Governor condoled with the families of those killed and sympathized with those injured, assuring residents that his administration remained committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
He warned that the attacks would not force Benue residents to abandon their ancestral lands.
The governor said protecting the people was a responsibility he had solemnly undertaken, noting that the Federal Government was also providing support to the state in its efforts to tackle terrorism.
“Benue lands for Benue people. Anyone who thinks attacking us will intimidate us to leave the land is making a mistake,” he said.
“I took an oath to protect our people, and I will not relent.
“I must appreciate the fact that the federal government is advancing a lot of support for us to tackle these acts of terrorism,” Alia said.
Alia urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
“Like I always say, you must all remain vigilant and always ensure that you forward information on suspicious movements around you,” he said.
The Governor assured residents that his administration would continue to take necessary measures to secure the state and protect lives and property.
