NewsNigeriaEid-el Kabir: Muslim clerics in Adamawa offer prayers for peaceful coexistence

Muslims in Adamawa state, Northeast Nigeria on Wednesday 27/5/2026 joined their counterpart across the globe in observing 2026 Eid-el Kabir celebration.

As early as 7:30 am, the faithful who afford it wore their new attire, while others dressed in their neatly ironed old clothes converged on various Eid ground and offer two raka’ats supplication led by Islamic scholars as enshrined in Islamic doctrine.
As usual, after performing the two raka’ats prayer, Islamic scholars delivered sermon mostly centred on the significance of the day and how Muslims who afford to slaughter ram should distribute the meat and offered prayers for peace and unity in Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
In Yola town, the Chief Imam of Modibbo Adama Central Mosque Yola town, Khadi Ahmadu Bobboi who led the prayer under the atmosphere of rain reminded Muslims of the significance of Eid-el-Kabir as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim in obedience to Allah’s command to sacrifice his son.
Khadi Bobboi also encouraged Muslims to strengthen family ties, assist the needy, and promote charity and kindness within their communities always particularly during the festive period.
On his part, the Chief Imam of Agga Islamic Center Jimeta, Sheikh Idris Mika’il, has urged Muslims to remain their brother’s keeper at all times, noting that the act attracts the blessings of Allah.
Sheikh Mika’il emphasized the importance and blessings attached to unity, peace, and love for one another promotes peaceful coexistence in society.
He also reminded parents on the need to closely monitor and properly guide their children through sound moral upbringing for them to be responsible members of the society.
Also, the Chief Imam of Mubi central mosque, Modibbo Abbas Bindow called on citizens to embrace peace, stressing that Nigeria’s progress depends on the collective resolved of the citizens to live together.
Modibbo Abbas reminded Muslims immense rewards awaits anyone who have the means of slaughtering a ram and distribute the meat according to Islamic tenet.
In his sermon, after leading two raka’ats prayer, the Chief Imam of Fufore Juma’at Mosque, Liman Yauba Yunusa urged Muslims to emulate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim by sharing meat with neighbors, family members, and the needy.
Liman Yunusa pointed out that the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir lies in obedience to Allah, compassion for others, and the strengthening of community bonds through acts of charity and generosity.
