The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced uploading polling unit results from the Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV) following the close of voting.

As of the time of filing this report, the commission had uploaded 846 results out of the 2,445 expected polling unit results, representing 34.60 per cent.

The uploads followed the completion of voting, sorting, and ballot counting in several polling units across the state.

Data from the IReV portal showed that results from multiple wards in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area had already been uploaded.

Iyin I Ward recorded the highest number, with 9 out of 23 polling units having results available on the portal. Igbemo Ward followed, with nine of its 21 polling units having their results uploaded.

Other wards with uploaded results include Are Ward 02, with four of 10 polling unit results; Igede II, four of 15; Igede III, one of 11; Afao, three of eight; Igede I, five of 15; Iworoko, three of 22; Iropora/Esure/Eyio, one of 16; Awo, three of 12; and Iyin II, six of 21 polling unit results.

The number of uploaded results is expected to rise as collation continues across the state.

Voting ended in many polling units before 3:00 p.m., after which election officials began sorting and counting ballots.

Residents turned out on Saturday to vote in the INEC election across the 16 local government areas of the state.

Collation of results is ongoing in some local government areas.
