The Kogi State police command has paraded two brothers and 11 others for armed robbery, car and motorcycle

Parading the suspects in Lokoja Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji said the 13 armed robbery suspects have been terrorizing the state and its environs for a long time.

He said that the strategies adopted by the command provided the avenue for effective collaboration with other critical stakeholders by giving them the access to share information that assist the command in crime control and management.

The CP said that one Mohammed Yahaya and two siblings, Idris Bello and Nafiu Bello were arrested in connection with snatching of four expensive cars  in Lokoja recently.

“On December 18, 2019, following a tip off that the above suspects who have been terrorizing Lokoja and its  environs snatched at gun point a Toyota  Sienna car and other valuables along old Stadium Road in Lokoja.

“On receipt of the  information, the operatives attached to Surveillance Team  State CID led by ASP Ahmed Bata  swung into action and arrested all the three suspected armed robbers.
“During investigation, one of the suspects, Idris Bello led detective to his house where a locally made pistol with one live ammunition and one English made pistol with five live ammunitions were recovered, while another suspect, Nafiu Bello led investigating team to his house at Kporoka, Lokoja where Ford Explorer with registration number Lagos  SJ 793 KJA which they used in carrying out their operations was recovered.

“Further  investigation led to recovery  of one Toyota Sienna, one Toyota Camry and Toyota Corolla car from Kaduna State on January 17, 2020. The command also arrested Ahmed Abah, Yauza Adamu and Idris Sani for allegedly stealing a Toyota Highlander with  registration number Lagos SMK 963FZ belonging  to a company in Lagos,” the CP said.

The CP stated further that on January 28 at about 01.00 hours, operatives attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad while on routine patrol intercepted  the Toyota Highlander and the occupants confessed to have stolen the vehicle from their employer in Lagos.

However, one of the suspects,  Idris Bello  confessed to crime and told journalists that he along with his gang had snatched cars at one time or the other at  Stadium Road, Adankolo new layout, Fen Junction and Zone 8 junction respectively in Lokoja.

Also  Ahmed Abah who claimed to be a driver for a company in Lagos confessed that his employer did not pay his salary hence he decided to sell the car to offset his outstanding salary.

Other suspects paraded  are the motorcycle snatchers from various parts of the state and one impersonator claiming to be army officer with camouflage uniform to snatch motorcycles in Anyigba in the east district of the state.

The Commissioner of Police stated that all the suspects would be  charged to court once investigation into their case is completed.
