In order to strengthen the capacity of the State’s Healthcare system to contain the Coronavirus pandemic, the Enugu State Government has assigned two more isolation centers in addition to the ESUT Teaching Hospital, Parklane Isolation center.
The two new isolation centers are located in Nsukka town and Enugu city; a newly built hospital converted as a center in Nsukka and the Enugu State Medical Diagnostic Center which is about a kilometer away from the ESUT Teaching hospital, Parklane, both in Enugu North Local Government Area.

The construction of the Enugu State Medical Diagnostic Center started during Sullivan Chime’s administration and was completed by his successor and present Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. The Diagnostic Center has not been in use since its completion.
The Governor stated that efforts are ongoing to equip the State’s Diagnostic Center for its new use as an isolation and treatment center.

“The former isolation center ESUT Teaching Hospital Isolation ward, Colliery is not left out as the Enugu State Government has taken over and commenced its extensive rehabilitation and reconstruction so as to expand the State’s capacity for Coronavirus Disease Isolation and Treatment”, he further explained.
The three designated isolation and treatment centers are located within only 2 out of the 17 Local Government Areas (LGA) in the state and so for an even spread, Ugwuanyi announced that the State Government is collaborating with the other LGA Chairmen to identify and designate Isolation and Treatment Centers in their respective areas to ensure their preparedness in the event of possible spike in the Coronavirus Disease within the state.
