As the 14-days lockdown in Adamawa state ends this Tuesday, mixed reactions continued to trail with many prevailing on the need for the state governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to relax the restrictions and code of conduct while others do support for an extension of the lockdown.
In an opinion poll conducted, respondents averred that with the prevailing economic hardship and security consequences the state government should borrow a leave from other neighboring states that had relaxed the order with restrictions and constant awareness.
Taraba, Bauchi , Bayelsa, and other states were reported to have relaxed the lockdown with restrictions and daily codes, markets, shops and other places of business are allowed to operate between the hours of 8:00 am to 2:00 pm every day, while human and vehicular movements are also allowed during the period but people are advised to avoid large gatherings and observe social distancing.

Sani Saeed, was emphatic that, ’’ lockdown without palliative measures would lead to a proliferation of crimes and destitution. The government must act now!’’
He further stressed the need for well-to-do to also help by providing foodstuff to the vulnerable while residents should comply with the restrictions order.
Hossana Barnabas Takulama has a different opinion, ‘’ I think it should be extended, knowing fully well that the battle against the dreaded coronavirus is not yet over. However, the government should do more in the area of a palliative than it is currently doing.’’
For Tukur Gidado total repentance is the solution, said people should avoid fake news and do not panic, ’’ Total repentance and follow the bad deeds with the good deeds.
‘’ Maintain a good personal and environmental hygiene, avoid gathering and maintain social distancing as well as people should avoid fake news.
‘’ Above all, intensify efforts in prayers,’’ he advised.
But making his submission another resident who simply identified himself as Ronald Wild, said, there should be places where people coming into the state are being screened.
‘’ There should be places where people coming into the state from all boarders will be screened and if possible quarantined for two weeks before been allowed into the state.
‘’My people this thing is serious please let’s not joke about it,’’ he warned.
In the meantime, some residents have decried the spike in the prices of food items over the lockdown in the state in order to curtail the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
