After testing negative twice in line with NCDC protocols, Adamawa’s first index case, as well as four others, has been released from government isolation.

The state government has on April 21, 2020, broke the news that a COVID-19 case was recorded in the state.

 Although all the close contacts of the index case have tested negative to COVID-19 other cases were recorded in various parts of the state.

 Speaking during an event at the COVID-19 Isolation Centre at Kofare in Yola, Governor Umaru Fintiri congratulated the front line Health workers towards the successful treatment of the recovered patients.

 He stressed the need for the reintegration of the recovered patients back to society and appealed for people not to panic and stigmatize the recovered patients but embrace them as the virus is manageable and curable.

 Governor Umaru Fintiri thanked the Containment Committee and the front line workers for a job well done as well as Adamawa people for putting aside politics and cooperated with the government towards containing the virus in the state.

 He appealed to people to continue to adhere to the laid down rules of safety measures to curtail the spread of the virus as the state government is on top of the situation and doing everything it can to contain the virus in Adamawa.

The Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bashir Ahmad who is the State Chairman COVID-19 Containment Committee intimated the Governor about the recovered five patients including the index case-patient.

 Meanwhile, Governor Umaru Fintiri alongside his Deputy Chief Crowther Seth inspected the Psychiatric Unit at the Specialist Hospital Yola which is under renovation for converting it into COVID-19 permanent Isolation Centre in the state.
